Jordan | Weather Alert: Cold Winter Conditions with Rain Showers and Strong Winds Tonight Through Monday Daytime

The Kingdom is being affected by a low-pressure system centered in the Cyprus basin, accompanied by strong and very cold winds, along with scattered rainfall, especially in the northern parts of the Kingdom, occasionally extending to central regions and high southern mountain peaks, starting from tonight until Monday daytime and at scattered intervals.

Rain will be heavy at times in the northern Kingdom, particularly in Ajloun, Irbid, Jerash highlands, west of Mafraq, and the northern Jordan Valley, during Saturday/Sunday night and until Sunday daytime, coinciding with cold weather.

Temperatures will drop to 5-6 degrees Celsius in the capital Amman during Saturday/Sunday night and Sunday/Monday night, coinciding with scattered rainfall and active winds.

The impact of the low-pressure system and its accompanying cold air mass will begin to retreat gradually starting Monday, with temperatures rising on Tuesday and warm spring conditions returning during the daytime.

The source of the cold air mass is from central European regions, which has been rapidly pushed toward the eastern Mediterranean basin. Cold conditions during the spring period are "customary and natural" and typically occur at this time of year, usually for short temporary periods. The reason for the recurrence of these weather conditions this season, "temperature fluctuations and active winds," is due to a strong rotational movement affecting the atmosphere during recent months.
