Jordan | Weather Alert.. Deep Low Pressure System and "Severe" Weather Fluctuations Expected End of Week

Jordan to be affected by "severe" weather fluctuations The end of the week begins on Wednesday with a noticeable rise in temperatures followed by a noticeable and "significant" decline on Thursday and Friday with considerable wind activity. WASM expects the temperature difference to exceed 20 degrees Celsius over two days coinciding with strong winds and heavy "precipitation" Thursday night through Friday daytime.

In detail, the Kingdom will be affected on Wednesday by the front of a "deep-centered" low-pressure system positioned between Cyprus and Crete islands east of the Mediterranean Sea, manifesting as a noticeable rise in temperatures and wind activity. Temperatures are expected to exceed 25 degrees Celsius in Amman with the appearance of medium and high clouds, and light rain will fall.

Starting Thursday, wind activity increases and low clouds increase while temperatures drop noticeably and significantly to reach around 5 degrees Celsius at night in the capital Amman with heavy "precipitation" falling and strong winds active as a result of a highly effective cold air front, and precipitation continues through Friday daytime.

Severe weather fluctuations are considered to occur significantly during transitional periods, and WASM expects weather fluctuations to intensify noticeably after mid-month with increased activity of low-pressure systems and "severity" of temperature fluctuations between noticeable and significant rises followed by sharp declines, which increases the chance of seasonal illnesses. Also, with temperature fluctuations wind speed and rainfall intensity increase in many cases.

WASM will issue all alerts regarding the expected weather conditions at the end of the week and any changes that may occur to them.
