WASM- Khamsin atmospheric conditions intensify with dry, hot and dusty weather over the Kingdom starting from Wednesday, reaching their peak impact on Thursday and Friday coinciding with strong wind gusts at times which lead to zero horizontal visibility on some exposed desert roads, and these conditions coincide with high temperatures and amounts of medium and high clouds.
The WASM regional center advises patients with respiratory system diseases, allergies and asthma to follow the necessary and recommended medical guidelines, and also advises farmers to be careful of the damage caused by hot, dry and dusty Khamsin winds until Friday.
- Wednesday.. The Khamsin low pressure system is positioned north of Egypt
The Khamsin low pressure system accompanied by large quantities of dust from the African deserts is positioned around its center in northern Egypt coinciding with moderately active winds and strong gusts that may reach up to 55 km/hour in some exposed areas, temperatures in the capital and mountains reach around 33 degrees Celsius, and clouds increase later during the evening period.
- Thursday and Friday.. Deepening of the Khamsin low pressure system
The Khamsin atmospheric low pressure system deepens north of Sinai and near Palestinian coasts, and the activity of hot and dry southerly winds that stir up dust increases, and the proportion of dust in the atmosphere increases noticeably and in different atmospheric layers coinciding with increasing clouds at medium and high altitudes, and muddy rain showers fall on Friday evening.
- Saturday.. Beginning of the decline of the Khamsin low pressure system and muddy rain showers
Dust decreases gradually and medium-height clouds increase, and temperatures drop noticeably, and light muddy thunderstorm showers fall in different areas and as a prelude to a heavy, strong and widespread rainy condition with regional impact resulting from the approach of an active tropical wave to the region.
- Sunday.. Heavy rainy condition
The WASM regional center is monitoring a heavy rainy condition with regional impact that gradually begins on Sunday evening and intensifies mid-next week which covers most of the Arabian Peninsula area as well as Iraq, coinciding with a significant drop in temperatures and their return to seasonal averages, and details will be issued gradually.
- Extension of the current rainy season to a late period of late spring and early summer..
As a result of the climatic conditions affecting the region especially in recent years which caused a significant increase in rainfall rates regionally, and also as a result of unusual atmospheric circulation patterns, the rainy season is expected to extend until the beginning of the summer season and in different areas of the Middle East and these weather cases and unseasonable disturbances will be monitored.
