Jordan | Weather Alert: Heat wave to intensify on Friday and Saturday with temperatures reaching the 40s on Sunday and Monday

WAM - The heat wave will intensify tomorrow, Friday, and increase in strength on Saturday, reaching its peak on Sunday and Monday. Temperatures are expected to reach forty-degree levels in wide areas of the Kingdom on Sunday and Monday, exceeding 45 degrees Celsius in low-lying areas and the Jordan Valley.

Humidity levels will rise during the afternoon period, especially in the western highlands, which will significantly increase the feeling of higher temperatures than recorded, making the weather exhausting in the coming days.

Temperatures will rise tomorrow, Friday, to reach around 36 degrees Celsius in the capital Amman, and will continue rising on Saturday, exceeding 37-38 degrees Celsius, with the heat wave reaching its peak on Sunday and Monday, exceeding 40 degrees Celsius in the capital Amman.

The atmosphere will become stifling and warmer than usual starting from Friday/Saturday night and will intensify during Sunday/Monday night and Monday/Tuesday night.

The heat wave will begin to recede gradually during the first days of Eid, with temperatures dropping starting from the highlands and western Kingdom, then in the remaining areas, and the weather will become moderate during the second and third days of Eid.

WAM recommends staying away from direct sunlight and not leaving sterilizers inside vehicles, and advises not operating air conditioning at temperatures below 22 degrees Celsius so as not to put pressure on the electricity sector.
