WASM- The Kingdom is affected by a polar wave starting Friday and continuing until Monday morning, resulting in heavy thunderous rainfall, hail, and snow showers on the peaks of high southern mountains in the Kingdom, coinciding with extremely cold weather and active winds. The atmospheric low is expected to bring "large" amounts of rain across various regions.
In detail, the Kingdom is affected starting Thursday night by rainy and cold conditions on the northern and central parts, with these rains intensifying gradually during Friday dawn and continuing heavily throughout Friday. A cold polar front moves in Friday evening, increasing rainfall intensity and becoming snow showers on the peaks of southern mountains exceeding 1300-1400 meters above sea level, including the highlands of Tafila and Shobak, with this rainfall mixed with snow and hail in the central and northern mountains.
Saturday's weather will be very cold and rainy at intervals with snow falling on the high southern mountains including the highlands of Tafila and Shobak. The intensity of precipitation will decrease during the day temporarily due to the formation of a new and colder front expected to move toward the Kingdom on Sunday.
The weather condition will reach its peak on Sunday with heavy rainfall and sometimes extremely heavy rainfall across various regions, leading to the formation of floods coinciding with a significant temperature drop. Heavy and accumulated snow is expected on the southern mountains, with snow showers also falling in high mountainous areas in the north and center without significant accumulations that would impede life, especially during the night of Sunday/Monday.
A freezing and frost wave is expected to affect the Kingdom starting Monday dawn across various regions and continuing until Wednesday as a result of a significant temperature drop. The freezing and frost wave will be strong in the southern mountains due to cold weather and snow accumulation.
The polar wave is expected to return again after the middle of next week and in a more pronounced manner in terms of colder temperatures and heavier precipitation.
An orange alert level is issued for weather conditions, rising to red on Sunday and Monday morning, while the level remains in the red category in the southern mountains from Friday evening due to snow.
