WASM- The Kingdom is expected to be affected by unstable weather conditions and strong winds starting Saturday evening and continuing until Sunday evening, with thunderstorms bringing rain showers to wide areas of the Kingdom, heavy in the eastern and southern parts of the Kingdom as well as the Dead Sea region and some central and northern areas of the country.
In detail, easterly winds will be active and become strong tomorrow, Saturday, stirring dust in desert areas, and starting from Saturday evening hours, heavy thunderstorm rain showers will fall over wide areas of southern Kingdom regions including vast stretches of desert areas and southern mountains, the Shobak and Tafila highlands, and Ma'an, with rain falling at less intensity in the Aqaba region.
With the night hours and during the dawn and morning of Sunday, the weather condition will intensify and be strong in some southern and eastern areas with heavy rainfall at times accompanied by hail showers and thunderstorms and strong winds, causing flash floods and torrential floods to form, and rainy clouds will extend to reach the central and northern areas gradually.
The weather condition will continue on Sunday at intervals, with heavy thunderstorm rain showers continuing in some areas especially the Dead Sea region, Karak highlands, Madaba, and east of Jordan including Al-Jafr, Al-Safawi, and Azraq, causing flash floods and torrential floods to form in some areas coinciding with strong winds, these heavy rainy clouds extend sometimes towards the central and northern Kingdom.
In summary the intensity of the weather condition is concentrated in wide areas of southern and eastern Kingdom and the Dead Sea region, with the weather condition intensity being less strong in the central and northern areas.
A significant improvement in the weather condition is expected Sunday evening and Monday with rainfall continuing in limited areas of the Kingdom especially the eastern parts and mountain peaks, and wind speed will decrease.
WASM issues an orange alert level for the weather condition starting from Saturday evening until Sunday evening, this level reaches red in some eastern areas of Jordan, and falls within the yellow level in some central and northern areas and the Aqaba region, as variation in the intensity of the weather condition is noted between one area and another and this is the nature of unstable weather as shown on the map.
WASM advises complete avoidance of low-lying areas and valleys and to follow the warnings of the Jordanian Meteorological Department, and advises following Civil Defense instructions and not underestimating the weather condition, even if the weather is clear in your area, this does not mean the same in other areas due to the nature of the weather condition.
The WASM Regional Center monitors the rainy weather conditions during the second half of November, which are expected to be heavy in many periods, with no rainfall deficit affecting the Kingdom as the current rainy season is considered normal with heavy rainfall periods expected during the coming days, and WASM will issue scientific and statistical reports to raise awareness and culture for the Jordanian people about the nature of climate in Jordan and the distribution of rainfall and the nature of weather conditions that affect throughout the year.
