The Kingdom will be affected next Saturday by a cold air front of "polar origin" coinciding with an extension of the Red Sea low pressure system, causing heavy thunderstorms over wide areas of the Kingdom including Aqaba, the Dead Sea, and desert regions as well, synchronized with snowfall in the high southern mountains.
In detail, the weather will remain cold and mostly cloudy today Wednesday and tomorrow Thursday with light rainfall, temperatures will rise slightly during Friday daytime ahead of the weather depression expected to be centered off the Lebanese coast, and thunderstorm showers will begin in scattered areas during the night of Friday/Saturday.
Starting from Saturday afternoon, the cold air front of "polar origin" crossing from eastern Europe will pass through, coinciding with the presence of the Red Sea low pressure system causing heavy thunderstorms over wide areas of the Kingdom, which will lead to increased chances of flash floods and widespread transboundary floods.
The weather will remain cold and partly cloudy at the beginning of next week with scattered rainfall, with the weather stabilizing temporarily mid-week before the beginning of a long-duration "polar wave" that will continue for extended days accompanied by successive depressions and increased chances of snowfall over many areas.
An "orange" alert level is issued for the weather conditions on Saturday due to heavy rainfall and snowfall in the high southern mountains.
