Jordan | Weather Alert: Heavy Thunderstorms Expected Tomorrow, Sunday, Across Various Regions of the Kingdom

WASM- The effects of the atmospheric low pressure system continue for the third consecutive day and its impact extends to various regions of the Kingdom tomorrow, Sunday, including desert areas and the Aqaba region.

In detail, the atmospheric low pressure system will be positioned tomorrow, Sunday, north of Egyptian territories and near the coasts of Palestine, which causes the expansion of weather conditions to desert and southern regions with renewed heavy thunderstorms across various areas. Attention must be paid to the danger of wadi flooding and flash floods.

Weather is expected to gradually stabilize during Monday, with a chance of light scattered rain showers in the early morning hours, coinciding with the formation of dense fog during the morning period of Monday over wide areas.

Weather will be stable from Tuesday through Thursday with the appearance of light scattered clouds, and the weather will remain generally cold, especially during the night, with temperatures approaching 6-7 degrees Celsius at night. The Regional WSAM Center is monitoring light to moderate rainy weather conditions during the end of this week and the beginning of next week over some areas.

WSAM recommends following the warnings of the Jordanian Meteorology Department and heeding the instructions of the Civil Defense and Public Security and staying away from valleys, low-lying areas, and water accumulation sites.

The Kingdom was affected by the atmospheric low pressure system and the accompanying cold and humid air mass, which resulted in "widespread" heavy rainfall over northern and central regions of the Kingdom and parts of the southern areas. Atmospheric low pressure systems are characterized by their impact on wide areas in a clear manner, unlike weather instability cases which are characterized by limited impact as occurred during previous weeks. This atmospheric low pressure system is considered the first during this rainy season, and these heavy rains are considered to have come "at their usual time without significant delay" based on statistics recorded at the Jordanian Meteorology Department. It is also expected that weather conditions will continue during the coming weeks.
