WASM- Extensive areas of the southern and eastern regions of the Kingdom and the Dead Sea area are affected by unstable weather conditions tonight and tomorrow Sunday. This weather system extends to the northern and central regions but with less intensity. Heavy rain showers, strong wind activity, and dense dust stirring are expected in many areas, and floods are expected to form in low-lying areas and wadis in the southern parts of the Kingdom including Aqaba region, Ma'an, Shoubak, Tafilah, Wadi Musa, Petra, Al-Jafr, and surrounding areas.
Starting from the hours after midnight and Sunday dawn, the weather system extends to the Dead Sea area and includes Karak, Madaba, and areas surrounding the Dead Sea region with heavy rain showers in some parts causing flood and flash flood formation.
The weather system is expected to extend but with moderate intensity toward the capital Amman and the northern regions of the Kingdom at dawn and morning of Sunday, with scattered thundery rain showers falling and the possibility of heavy rainfall in limited ranges of these areas and for short periods cannot be excluded.
In summary, the intensity of the weather system is concentrated in the southern and eastern regions and the Dead Sea area during the night hours and morning of Sunday, with moderate intensity in the northern and central regions.
WASM issues an orange alert level for this weather system tonight and tomorrow Sunday, with the level reaching red in some limited areas of the southern and eastern Kingdom, while the level is yellow in the north and center of the country as shown on the map.
Weather will gradually stabilize on the night of Sunday/Monday with limited chances of rain showers in parts of the eastern Kingdom and some western areas during Monday.
Limited rain showers are expected on Tuesday and Wednesday coinciding with cold weather, and gradually the rainy weather systems will intensify during the end of this week and more successive rainy weather systems are expected over the Kingdom
