Jordan | Weather Alert.. Intense Heat Wave Expected to Hit Jordan Starting Thursday and Lasting Several Days

WASM – The Kingdom will be affected by a heat wave starting Thursday and continuing until the middle of next week, beginning to recede gradually during the first days of Eid, with the peak of the heat wave expected at the beginning of next week, with temperatures reaching around 40 degrees Celsius in the capital Amman.

The heat wave is expected to advance from desert regions, beginning to push from African deserts starting Thursday with temperatures reaching around 36-37 degrees Celsius in the capital Amman, then the heat wave will intensify at the beginning of next week and very hot winds will surge from the Al-Jouf and Hail regions with temperatures approaching 40 degrees Celsius in the capital.



Starting from the first days of Eid, the heat wave will begin to recede and conditions will moderate during the end of next week with temperatures dropping significantly, especially in mountainous areas.

An increase in humidity levels is expected at times during the afternoon period while the heat wave is affecting the region, which will increase the feeling of temperatures higher than recorded.

Low-lying areas and the Jordan Valley are expected to be strongly affected by the heat wave with temperatures exceeding 45 degrees Celsius in the Jordan Valley, Dead Sea, and Aqaba.

Southern Saudi Arabia and the southern Arabian Gulf region are expected to be affected by heavy seasonal rain more than usual during the coming days and coinciding with the heat wave affecting Jordan and the eastern Mediterranean, as seasonal winds will push hot winds towards Jordan and the eastern Mediterranean region, causing a significant rise in temperature.
