WASM - The impact of the atmospheric low pressure system will intensify over the Kingdom starting from Tuesday evening with the advance of a cold air front of "Siberian origin" accompanied by heavy rainfall over wide areas of the Kingdom with continued strong winds.
In detail, rainfall will continue in various areas of the Kingdom today, particularly in central and eastern regions and parts of the north, and with the evening hours, the chances of rain will gradually decrease in various areas.
Thunderstorms will renew as the atmospheric low pressure system approaches southern parts of the Kingdom tomorrow, Tuesday, and thunderstorms will fall in various areas of the Kingdom, becoming heavy during the night and especially in central, northern and eastern regions accompanied by hail showers and thunderstorms with continued strong winds.
Cold polar-origin winds of "Siberian" nature will advance toward the Kingdom on Wednesday and rain will fall in various areas, particularly in the north, central and eastern regions, and accumulated snow will also fall in the highlands of the eastern desert region.
Weather will gradually stabilize on the night of Wednesday/Thursday with frost and freezing occurring in high mountains, especially in the southern areas and the eastern desert region.
Rain showers will fall during the end of the week in the western areas of the Kingdom coinciding with cold, humid and cloudy conditions.
WASM Regional Center expects a "long" series of stronger and colder atmospheric low pressure systems beginning early and mid-next week accompanied by more heavy precipitation and increased chances of snow in many areas around mid-month.
WASM issues a red alert level from Tuesday evening until Wednesday evening due to heavy rainfall, strong winds and snow fall in the highlands of the eastern desert region.
