WASM - Unstable weather conditions are intensifying over the Kingdom starting from tonight and tomorrow, Sunday, with increased cloud cover and strengthening wind speeds coinciding with intensifying cold weather, and rain showers falling in various areas of the Kingdom, which will be heavy and causing the formation of a new wave of flash floods mid-week.
In detail, tomorrow, Sunday, is expected to be severely cold and cloudy during many periods with scattered rain showers, wind gust speeds are expected to exceed 60-70 km/hour in mountainous areas.
Cold weather and atmospheric disturbances intensify starting from Monday, with thunderstorms and heavy rain showers falling at times in some areas causing the formation of flash floods and transported floods in low-lying areas and valleys, and wind speeds are expected to intensify to exceed 80 km/hour.
Weather instability reaches its peak on Tuesday and through Wednesday daytime, with heavy rains falling in various areas coinciding with continued wind strength, and snow showers are expected to fall on the peaks of high southern mountains and eastern desert areas on the night of Tuesday/Wednesday.
The cause of these weather conditions is due to a sharp extension of the Red Sea Low from the south coinciding with the presence of a strong atmospheric high over Iraq, resulting in a sharp decline in the surface atmospheric pressure peak, and with the presence of an atmospheric low north of Egypt, this causes the deepening of the Red Sea Low and weather disturbance, cloud accumulation, and rainfall.
WASM Regional Center expects a polar wave of "long-lasting effect" to approach the Kingdom starting from the end of the week, deepening around mid-month causing heavy precipitation and severely cold conditions.
WASM Regional Center advises vigilance and following the warnings of the Jordanian Meteorology Department and guidance from Civil Defense and Public Security, and not approaching valleys, low-lying areas, and areas where flash floods form during the coming days.
