Jordan | Weather Alert.. Low Pressure System and Heavy Thunderstorms Expected Tomorrow Saturday Across Wide Areas

WASM- The Kingdom will be affected on Saturday by a low-pressure system stationed over Lebanon that is gradually moving towards northeast Jordan, accompanied by heavy thunderstorms, a significant drop in temperature, strong winds at times, and snow falling in the high southern mountains.

In details, today Friday's weather will be sunny but clouds increase during the night and scattered rain showers fall in different areas of the Kingdom. Heavy and thunderous rains are expected starting from Saturday afternoon over wide areas of the Kingdom including Aqaba, the Dead Sea, and desert areas, which may cause the risk of flash floods and torrential floods in valleys and low-lying areas. Snow is also expected to fall during the night of Saturday/Sunday in the high southern mountains.

Weather on Sunday will remain cold and partly cloudy with scattered rain showers in different areas of the Kingdom. The weather will stabilize temporarily on Monday with light rain, and temperatures will rise on Tuesday before an expected polar wave advances towards the Kingdom accompanied by successive low-pressure systems that will continue for several days, starting next Wednesday.

In scientific details, it is expected that the Red Sea low-pressure system, which is stationed over northern Saudi Arabia and southern Iraq, will merge with a low-pressure system over Lebanon, which is gradually moving towards the northeast of the Kingdom, coinciding with the presence of a very cold air mass. A cold atmospheric front of "polar origin" is expected to advance during Saturday afternoon and evening, meeting a sharp extension of the Red Sea low-pressure system, which will cause the intensification of the weather condition and heavy rainfall in different areas.
