WASM - The Kingdom is affected by a new air depression accompanied by dense quantities of rainy clouds over northern and central regions and parts of the southern highlands on Friday and Saturday. Rain will be heavy at times, especially Friday evening until Saturday morning.
In details, temperatures will drop tomorrow, Friday, and dense clouds will increase in the northern part of the Kingdom during the dawn period and early morning hours. Rain will fall and gradually extend to central regions in the late morning period and will intensify Friday afternoon until Saturday morning in the north and center. Dense rainy clouds are also expected to advance toward the southern highlands during Friday/Saturday night hours.
Active western winds with high humidity will be accompanied by low clouds touching high mountains, where heavy rainfall is expected to coincide with dense fog leading to zero visibility from Friday evening until Saturday morning.
WASM issues an orange alert level for weather conditions on Friday and Saturday, with expectations of heavy rainfall, cold weather, and dense fog leading to zero visibility. Complete avoidance of low-lying areas and valleys is necessary due to expected rise in water levels resulting from heavy rainfall, especially Friday evening. Temperatures are expected to drop to 3 degrees Celsius in Amman mountains and below zero in Shara highlands on Saturday/Sunday night. Weather will stabilize temporarily on Sunday.
WASM Regional Center expects a strong winter storm to form starting Monday until the end of next week resulting in stormy winds, severe precipitation, and extremely cold conditions.
