WASM- The Kingdom is affected by a low-pressure system positioned over the island of Cyprus on Wednesday evening and Wednesday/Thursday night with rain falling in northern parts of the Kingdom gradually extending towards central regions of the country accompanied by strong winds, cold weather, and heavy dust in desert areas.
Heavy rain showers occur occasionally in parts of central and northern regions of the Kingdom during Wednesday/Thursday night, particularly over the Balqa Heights, Ajloun, and northwest Irbid, coinciding with strong wind gusts exceeding 60-70 km/hour at times. Caution should be exercised regarding the formation of flash floods in some northern and central areas of the Kingdom, particularly those classified under the orange alert level on the illustrative map.
Temperatures are expected to reach around 8-9 degrees Celsius in the capital's heights, Salt, Ajloun, and lower in the high mountains. The low-pressure system is expected to affect the southern regions only in the form of strong winds, heavy dust occasionally, and limited scattered rain showers.
WASM issues a yellow alert level for rainy and cold weather conditions and strong winds on Wednesday/Thursday night until Thursday afternoon. This level reaches orange in the Balqa Heights, Ajloun, and northwest Irbid due to heavy rainfall.
Weather will gradually stabilize during Thursday evening and the weekend; however, strong winds will resume on Friday and Saturday, which will increase the coldness of the weather. Temperatures are expected to rise at the beginning of next week before more intense and colder low-pressure systems are anticipated mid-month and after mid-month.
