WASM - Strong atmospheric depressions continue to move toward the Kingdom accompanied by large amounts of rain. Therefore, it is expected that the Kingdom will receive the third atmospheric depression this month, accompanied by very large quantities of rain in "all" regions of the Kingdom including the highlands of Shoubak, Tafilah, and Karak, as well as the Azraq, Safawi, Jafr, Aqaba, and Petra regions, in addition to northern and central parts of the Kingdom and the capital Amman.
Cold weather and partly cloudy Thursday and Friday..
The weather will be partly cloudy and generally cold on Thursday and Friday in the mountainous areas, but acceptable during daytime hours, with temperatures approaching their seasonal averages. Light scattered rain is expected in various regions of the Kingdom.
Heavy rain from Friday night until Monday|
An atmospheric depression is moving toward the Kingdom via the southern Mediterranean and northern Egypt, accompanied by a "high humidity" air mass, and large quantities of rain are expected in all regions with the danger of flash floods and flooding in many areas, including the Aqaba region and surrounding areas. Therefore, it is recommended to follow the warnings of the Jordanian Meteorology Department and the instructions of the Civil Defense and Public Security.
Thunderstorms Saturday evening until Sunday|
As a result of the deepening of the cold air mass accompanying the atmospheric depression in the middle and upper layers of the atmosphere and the presence of large quantities of moisture, thunderstorms and hail are expected to increase. Therefore, farmers are advised to be careful of newly flowering trees and protect them from hail.
Monitoring "a late and unusual polar wave compared to this time next weekend" |
It appears that the rainy season and winter continue strongly with no signs of imminent recession. A late polar wave accompanied by large quantities of widespread precipitation, strong cold winds, and a significant temperature drop is expected to affect Turkey, Greece, the eastern Mediterranean, the Levant, and Jordan at the end of next week, coinciding with the holy month. WASM will issue more details soon regarding this late and unusual winter weather condition.
We do not recommend planting any summer crops during the coming period in mountainous areas and many regions until the end of the coming cold and rainy period, which is expected to gradually subside around April 10, with conditions becoming warmer and more stable compared to the previous period, but with continued less cold rainy conditions. We will issue you more details and updates regarding expected weather conditions soon.
WASM issues an orange alert level for atmospheric conditions on Saturday and escalates to red from Saturday evening until Monday morning across most regions of the Kingdom. A high-resolution map will be issued to clarify alert levels for each region.
