The heat wave reaches its peak on Sunday and Monday, with temperatures reaching the high thirties in the capital Amman on Sunday and approaching 40 degrees Celsius on Monday, then beginning to gradually recede on Tuesday, the first day of Eid.
Temperatures will exceed the 40-degree mark in wide areas on Monday and approach 45 degrees Celsius in the Jordan Valley, Aqaba, and the Dead Sea, with dry easterly winds blowing in the morning hours.
The heat wave will gradually recede on Tuesday, especially during Tuesday evening, and will end on Wednesday with weather becoming mild and temperatures dropping below their average levels towards the end of the week.
WASM advises staying away from direct sunlight and increasing fluid intake, not leaving sanitizers inside vehicles, and not operating air conditioning units below 22 degrees Celsius so as not to strain the electrical sector.
