Jordan | Weather Alert.. Rain mixed with sleet and hail showers and extremely cold conditions tonight through Thursday evening

Label - Jordan is affected by a low-pressure system accompanied by strong winds. A polar-origin cold wave starting from tonight until Thursday evening causes heavy thunderstorms occasionally mixed with snow showers and hail in high mountain peaks and affects various western regions of the kingdom including the southern mountains.

Snow showers fall over various high mountain peaks of the kingdom mixed with rain and hail on Thursday dawn and morning, but accumulate slightly and limitedly over the southern mountain peaks of the kingdom exceeding 1300-1400 meters above sea level including the peaks of Shobak and Tafilah.

Temperature drops in the highlands of the capital Amman to only 2 degrees Celsius and sometimes less on Thursday dawn and morning coinciding with intensifying strong cold and polar-origin winds.

The low-pressure system is positioned over southern Cyprus accompanied by strong cold polar-origin winds with high humidity causing heavy precipitation occasionally in various western regions of the country.

The WASM Regional Center issued an orange alert level for weather conditions starting from tonight due to heavy precipitation occasionally and floods in low-lying areas and valleys and snow showers in southern high mountain peaks, so we advise everyone to be cautious of the weather conditions and not to underestimate them, and we also advise following the warnings of the Jordanian Meteorology Department and heeding the advice of Civil Defense and Public Security.

Weather stabilizes on Friday and remains generally cold but with expected gradual temperature rise, and starting from Saturday the country is affected by a warm spring wave with beautiful and pleasant weather suitable for outdoor trips but with caution from the continuation of water flow and floods in low-lying areas and valleys resulting from the weather conditions on Thursday.

The WASM Regional Center monitors "sharp" weather fluctuations between the 8th-13th of this month which include significant temperature variation and heavy precipitation with increased chances of snow showers again.
