A strong heat wave begins tomorrow, Friday, with temperatures rising noticeably and reaching around 36 degrees Celsius in the capital Amman on Friday. The heat wave will intensify on Saturday and Sunday with temperatures approaching 40 degrees Celsius in the capital, coinciding with hot and dry easterly winds and nights hotter than usual.
The intensity of the heat wave will ease slightly and temporarily on Monday evening with weather tending towards moderation in high mountains, before the heat wave intensifies again mid and late next week "significantly" with temperatures rising to very high levels.
On Saturday, temperatures in the capital Amman will reach around 40 degrees Celsius, in low-lying areas, the Jordan Valley, Dead Sea and Aqaba around 45 degrees Celsius, eastern and desert areas and Zarqa around 42 degrees Celsius, and high mountains around 35 degrees Celsius.
The WASM Regional Center is monitoring a significant intensification of the "strong heat wave" mid and late next week with temperatures at 40 degrees Celsius levels in wide areas, and all details will be released progressively.
WASM advises wearing light-colored light clothing, drinking fluids and not leaving sterilizing materials inside vehicles, operating air conditioning units at temperatures between 22-24 degrees Celsius. It is also expected that the chances of grass and dry tree fires will increase, especially on Saturday and Sunday, due to the coincidence of active winds with high temperatures and dry weather.
Strong heat waves have increased in various parts of the world due to severe climate changes and rising global temperatures, which has caused a global climate crisis, major forest fires, flash floods and flooding.
The WASM Regional Center was able to exclusively forecast the strong heat wave due to the use of our developed W.DMM technology, which monitors the best probability during the coming period, and we have also developed the climate model at WASM which specializes in long-range forecasts.
The reason for the strong heat wave is due to the early surge of polar winds towards northern and central Europe, coinciding with the surge of a tropical wave towards the south of the Arabian Peninsula, which causes hot and dry winds to surge towards Jordan and the Levant.
