A very cold air mass deepens towards the Kingdom on Monday evening accompanied by a low pressure system centered south of Cyprus, with thundery rain showers falling, which will be heavy in various areas especially in the central and southern regions as well as the eastern areas with a risk of flash floods forming.
Snow showers fall in the high southern mountains exceeding 1400 meters on Monday evening, accumulating in some peaks, especially the heights of Tafila, Shobak and Ma'an due to the coincidence of precipitation with severe cold weather in those high mountainous areas.
Weather stabilizes on Tuesday, with the atmosphere remaining very cold, and dense fog forms in the eastern plains and mountains during the morning leading to zero horizontal visibility.
The Siberian high pressure system affects the Kingdom at the end of the week for the first time during this season, with active cold easterly winds and clouds appearing at different altitudes.
The Kingdom is expected to be affected by a polar wave during the last third of the month especially the period between the 23rd to 31st, accompanied by heavy precipitation and increased chances of snow falling in mountainous areas, and details will be issued progressively.
Most regions of the Kingdom recorded half their monthly rainfall average during the first half of January due to consecutive weather depressions and rainy conditions, where the Kingdom recorded 4-5 rainy cases at a rate of one rainy case every 2.5 days, with snow falling once in the southern mountains.
