Jordan | Weather Alert Tonight.. Heavy Rainfall and Strong Winds in Northern and Central Regions

WASM - The Kingdom is affected by a low-pressure system centered around the island of Cyprus today during the day in the form of strong winds and dust storms, especially in desert areas, and cold weather. Starting from the afternoon period, rain begins to fall on the northern regions, extending in the evening to the central areas of the Kingdom.

It is expected that these rains will become heavy at times, especially in the north and parts of central Kingdom during the night hours, coinciding with strong wind gusts exceeding 70 km/hour which stir up dust in desert and southern areas. It is not expected that the low-pressure system will affect the southern regions of the Kingdom in terms of rainfall, but strong winds are expected to impact them.

The effect of the low-pressure system continues until Thursday morning in the form of scattered rain showers in the north and central Kingdom and limited areas from the south, then the weather gradually stabilizes after Thursday afternoon and the atmosphere remains generally cold.

WASM issues a yellow alert level for weather conditions tonight and tomorrow Thursday until noon due to rain, winds, and cold weather, and an orange level in parts of northern Kingdom and Balqa Heights due to heavy rainfall. Attention should be paid to the formation of floods in northern areas and parts of central Kingdom.

The weather will be stable with the appearance of amounts of high and medium clouds during the weekend coinciding with strong easterly winds, therefore the atmosphere is not expected to be suitable for outdoor trips.

It is expected that temperatures will rise at the beginning of next week before the anticipated return of low-pressure systems "stronger and colder" mid and after mid-current month.
