Jordan | Weather Alert.. Unstable atmospheric conditions beginning Thursday evening, intensifying from Friday evening

WASM - The Kingdom will be affected by unstable weather conditions that will gradually begin on some regions Thursday afternoon and intensify during Thursday/Friday night hours over various areas of Jordan, particularly mountainous and northern regions. Thunderstorms will occur with occasional strong winds. The thunderstorms are moderate in intensity at scattered intervals until Friday evening.

Starting from Friday evening hours and Friday/Saturday night until Sunday daytime, the weather condition will intensify and become strong in some areas, particularly the Dead Sea region, northern and northeastern areas, and mountainous regions of the Kingdom. Heavy thunderstorms will occur at times, causing flash floods and torrential streams in low-lying areas and valleys. The weather condition will reach its peak during Saturday/Sunday evening and night hours.

The weather condition will result in variable weather between sunny and partly cloudy with sudden thunderstorm showers that will be heavy starting from Friday/Saturday night until Sunday daytime. The weather condition will then temporarily recede before intensifying again during the middle of next week over wide areas.

A yellow alert level warning is issued for the weather conditions starting Thursday evening over various regions, with this level rising to orange on Friday/Saturday night hours until Sunday daytime, with heavy thunderstorm showers occurring at times, especially in the Dead Sea region, central and northern areas, and high mountains. Given the nature of the weather condition and the random occurrence of heavy rainfall at times, these rains may come suddenly in some areas even if the weather is sunny and stable. We therefore advise caution regarding sharp and sudden weather fluctuations.

In scientific detail, a cold air mass is expected to surge through different atmospheric layers directly toward the eastern Mediterranean basin and northern Egypt, coinciding with an influx of warm and humid winds from the south, east, and southeastern Mediterranean.
