Jordan | Weather Alert.. Unstable atmospheric conditions with occasional heavy thunderstorms beginning Saturday evening

The Kingdom will be affected by a weather instability condition from Saturday evening and throughout Sunday, beginning from the southern and eastern regions of the Kingdom and gradually extending to the rest of the regions. Thunderstorm showers, which will be heavy at times in some areas, will fall coinciding with strong dust-raising winds.

Cold easterly winds will be active tomorrow, Friday, and will stir up dust in desert areas. The activity of these winds will increase on Friday/Saturday night and on Saturday before the weather instability, and cumulus thunderclouds will increase starting from the southeast of the Kingdom on Saturday evening coinciding with wind intensification and extending to the rest of the regions on Sunday, sometimes including the capital Amman and surrounding areas.

Given the nature of the weather condition, rainfall showers will fall irregularly, being heavy in some areas and light in others, but the weather condition is expected to affect many regions.

A yellow alert level is issued for weather conditions starting from the hours of Friday/Saturday night due to active winds, and this level will rise to orange as of Saturday evening due to wind intensification and heavy rainfall in many regions.

The cause of the weather condition is due to a deep extension of the Red Sea low pressure system coinciding with a cold air mass surge in the middle and upper atmospheric layers, which causes weather instability.

The regional center is monitoring more rainy and cold weather conditions that will begin after mid-month, during mid and end of next week coinciding with a significant drop in temperature.
