Jordan | Weather instability and fluctuations with hot and humid conditions begin at the end of the week

WASM – The Kingdom will be affected by weather disturbances and fluctuations starting from Friday, with these unseasonable atmospheric disturbances intensifying during Saturday and Sunday, coinciding with a noticeable rise in temperatures and humidity levels in the atmosphere and high chances of thunderstorm rainfall, especially in the south and east of the Kingdom, extending to limited parts of other regions.

Temperatures are expected to reach 35-38°C in the capital and mountains on Friday and Saturday, coinciding with active winds and a significant increase in surface humidity levels, especially during the afternoon and evening periods, with the presence of dense medium and high clouds.

The Kingdom is expected to be affected by a tropical "humid" and unstable wave starting Friday, which will gradually lead to increased heat, humidity, and weather disturbances. This tropical wave will coincide with the presence of a rare atmospheric low-pressure system north of Egypt, which will lead to intensified weather disturbances over the region from Saturday until the coming Monday.

Weather disturbances begin Friday evening|
Weather disturbances are expected to begin Friday evening as medium clouds increase, winds activate in some areas, and limited rainfall occurs, especially in the south and east of the Kingdom. This weather condition will intensify on Saturday and Sunday through Monday and will affect various regions, particularly the south of the Kingdom and surrounding areas of Ma'an, Tafila, and Shobak.

Weather fluctuations are expected to lead to increased thunderclouds on Saturday and Sunday, resulting in rainfall, sudden wind activity, and dust storms in various areas, causing a sudden reduction in horizontal visibility on desert roads.

Atmospheric instability will increase in impact on Monday, coinciding with a drop in temperatures, but with continued hot and humid weather, with the weather condition concentrated more toward the western parts of the Kingdom, due to the advancement of cold winds through the upper layers of the atmosphere, coinciding with high surface temperatures and high humidity.

Noticeable rise in temperatures on Friday|
Temperatures are expected to rise noticeably on Friday, with heat expected to reach 35°C in the high mountains and the capital highlands to 38-39°C in lower-lying areas and plains and east of the capital, and exceeding 40-43°C in the Jordan Valley, Aqaba, the Dead Sea, and east of the Kingdom during the peak period on Friday and Saturday. These levels typically occur during August due to the extension of the seasonal Indian low-pressure system from the east.

It is expected that the intensity of the heat will break slightly starting Sunday, with another drop in temperature on the coming Monday, and the intensity of hot conditions will gradually recede during the middle and end of next week, with temperatures approaching seasonal averages gradually.

Tips and Recommendations|
- High humidity coinciding with high temperatures that will increase the feeling of stressful weather. WASM Regional Center recommends increasing fluid intake and avoiding direct sunlight.
- Operate air conditioning devices at temperatures not lower than 25°C to avoid pressure on the electricity sector.
- Be alert to sudden sandstorms from Saturday through Monday as a result of sharp weather fluctuations, especially for those with allergies and respiratory diseases, asthma, and users of external roads.
- Be alert to lightning strikes during thunderstorms, especially in the south and east of the Kingdom, particularly on Saturday and Sunday.
