WASM – Weather is expected to stabilize tonight and the rain and snow wave will recede from the Kingdom, however a sharp drop in temperature is expected to reach zero degrees Celsius and below, which will cause freezing and frost, especially in mountainous and desert regions.
A strong cold wave is expected at the end of the week coinciding with the blowing of dry easterly winds, which will increase the feeling of very cold weather. The atmosphere will be sunny with few clouds.
Jordan was affected today by a low-pressure system accompanied by a polar-origin air mass that caused heavy precipitation and snow on high mountains exceeding 1000 meters and occasionally below that. However, the snow accumulations were light, temporary, and limited in scope, affecting the high elevations of Amman, Karak, Ajloun, Jerash, Tafila, and to a limited extent Shobak. Heavy precipitation concentrated in the north and center and even the Karak region due to the effect of westerly and southwesterly winds, which weakened the weather condition in the southern regions.
WASM expects a renewal of low-pressure systems starting from January 27 until the beginning of February accompanied by heavy precipitation, very cold weather, and strong winds.
