Update Date | 06-11-2026

WASM | A Highly Active Regional Low-Pressure System to Affect the Levant, Iraq, and Kuwait from Friday Through Sunday, Before Expanding into Large Parts of Central and Eastern Saudi Arabia

  1. A highly active low-pressure system is expected to begin affecting the region by the end of the week, bringing significant rainfall accumulations across the Levant, including Jordan, Palestine, Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, and Kuwait. Its influence will then expand into extensive areas of Saudi Arabia next week, with the potential for very large rainfall totals.
  2. Another tropical wave, deeper and richer in moisture, is forecast to develop next week. It will coincide with the early-season cold low-pressure system, resulting in additional heavy rainfall across large parts of Saudi Arabia, the Gulf countries, Iraq, and Kuwait. The system is expected to affect the Riyadh Region, Al-Qassim, and the Eastern Province for the first time this season, with substantial rainfall accumulations anticipated.
  3. Another widespread and heavy regional rainfall event associated with a strong tropical wave is also being monitored. This event is expected to begin later in the month after mid-November, focusing initially on the Levant and western Saudi Arabia before gradually expanding to broader areas. Further details will be released soon.

The November 2026 Monthly Outlook has been issued.

Detailed Forecast by Region and Country

Details of the Cold Low-Pressure Systems During the Second Half of the Week

Several cold and rain-bearing low-pressure systems are expected to develop, coinciding with the approach of polar air masses to the region, a relatively rare occurrence for this time of year.

These systems are forecast to interact with a deepening, moisture-rich tropical wave originating from the Arabian Sea, resulting in a new regional rainfall event beginning over the Levant before expanding next week across the Arabian Peninsula, particularly central, eastern, and northern Saudi Arabia, as well as Kuwait, Iraq, and the Levant.

Saudi Arabia, the Gulf Region, and the Arabian Peninsula

Rainfall is expected to intensify somewhat during the weekend as a precursor to a more significant rainfall event, particularly across the Northern Borders Region, Kuwait, and Hafar Al-Batin, under the influence of cold low-pressure systems advancing from the eastern Mediterranean.

Thunderstorms may occasionally extend into northern parts of the Riyadh Region and sections of the northern Eastern Province in a scattered manner.

Temperatures are forecast to fall significantly across northern and northwestern Saudi Arabia, with winter-like conditions arriving earlier than usual.

A widespread regional rainfall event is expected to affect large parts of Saudi Arabia and the Gulf countries next week, focusing primarily on central and eastern Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Kuwait, and northeastern regions, especially Al-Qassim, Riyadh, Hafar Al-Batin, and the northern sectors of the Eastern Province.

Successive severe rainfall events are expected to continue across the region in the coming weeks. A potentially powerful rainfall event is being monitored for later in the month, focusing initially on western Saudi Arabia. Further details will be announced soon.

The Levant

The Levant will be affected by a cold and heavy rain-producing low-pressure system covering all countries of the region, including Jordan, Palestine, Syria, and Lebanon, from Friday through Sunday.

The system is expected to bring substantial rainfall accumulations across most areas along with cold and wintry weather conditions.

Jordan

Heavy rainfall is expected from Friday through Sunday across western parts of the Kingdom as a result of the low-pressure system.

Parts of northern and central Jordan may record significant rainfall totals amid unusually early cold and wintry conditions for this stage of the season.

Weather conditions are expected to gradually stabilize on Monday. However, further atmospheric disturbances and weather fluctuations are anticipated during the middle of next week, bringing additional rain showers to some areas.

Successive low-pressure systems and rainfall events are expected over the coming weeks, interrupted only by brief and temporary warm periods. A significant rainfall event is also being monitored for the period after mid-November, and further details will be released soon.

Syria

A highly active low-pressure system is expected to affect Syria through Sunday, bringing substantial rainfall accumulations, particularly across northern Syria and coastal regions.

Thunderstorms are expected to affect most regions of the country, including Damascus, Daraa, and southern Syria.

Weather conditions are expected to gradually stabilize on Monday, before atmospheric instability returns during the middle of next week.

Rainfall events are expected to continue over the coming period as low-pressure systems remain active, while the risk of flash flooding is expected to remain elevated, particularly after mid-month. Further details will follow soon.

Palestine

The influence of the low-pressure system is expected to deepen on Friday, bringing widespread and significant rainfall across most parts of Palestine through Sunday, accompanied by cold and wintry conditions.

The risk of flash flooding is expected to increase, particularly in coastal areas.

Heavy rainfall events are expected to renew later in the month, especially after mid-November. Additional details will be announced soon.

Lebanon

A highly active low-pressure system is expected to affect Lebanon from Friday through Sunday, bringing heavy rainfall, substantial accumulations, snowfall over high mountain elevations, and cold winter-like weather.

Iraq

Heavy and widespread thunderstorms are expected from Friday through Sunday as a highly active low-pressure system affects the region.

Intense rainfall is forecast to include Baghdad, accompanied by a heightened risk of flash flooding.

Heavy rainfall events are expected to continue across Iraq, with several strong and highly active peaks anticipated, especially after mid-November.
