WASM- Jordan is affected by a strong heat wave that began in the afternoon yesterday, Friday, and is intensifying today, Saturday, noticeably and is expected to continue until September 7-8.
Temperatures exceed 40 degrees Celsius in most Jordanian cities, including the capital Amman, during the impact of the strong heat wave, and it is expected that the heat wave will decline during Tuesday and Wednesday, but temporarily, to intensify again at the end of the week.
The reason for this strong heat wave is due to the presence of a high pressure system in northern Syria and Iraq, coinciding with the extension of the Indian monsoon low and the Red Sea low from the south, which causes hot and dry winds to push towards the region.
WASM recommends wearing light, cotton clothing in light colors, drinking cold fluids, consuming fruits and vegetables, and running air conditioning units at temperatures around 23-24 degrees Celsius.
