The Levant | Early Winter Conditions and Heavy Rainfall from Friday Through Sunday with Elevated Flash Flood Risk
WASM – The Levant is expected to be affected by an exceptionally early low-pressure system accompanied by heavy rainfall, God willing, with an elevated risk of flash flooding toward the end of the week.

In detail, the influence of the low-pressure system will begin on Wednesday and Thursday over northwestern Syria and Lebanon, extending into parts of northern Palestine on Thursday in the form of scattered rain showers.

Beginning on Friday, the highly active low-pressure system is expected to deepen, bringing heavy rainfall to northern and central Jordan, Palestine, and most areas of Syria and Lebanon, accompanied by cold weather and brisk winds.

The heaviest rainfall is expected on Saturday across Jordan, Palestine, and southern Syria, extending into southwestern parts of Jordan, where the risk of flash flooding is expected to increase.

The influence of the low-pressure system will continue through Sunday, with periods of heavy rainfall and persistent cold, wintry conditions.

Temperatures are expected to fall 5 to 7°C below seasonal averages, resulting in unusually cold and winter-like weather for this time of year.

Rain chances are expected to persist in some areas next week even after the departure of the low-pressure system, with further details to follow.
