WASM – The Levant and the Arabian Peninsula are expected to be affected by an exceptionally early winter-type low-pressure system accompanied by significant rainfall accumulations as a result of an early polar surge approaching the eastern Mediterranean.
In detail, thunderstorms and heavy rainfall are expected to redevelop, God willing, across northern Saudi Arabia, Iraq, and Kuwait from Tuesday through Thursday. Rainfall will also extend to parts of northern and western Syria, Lebanon, and northern Palestine.
Beginning on Friday, a highly active low-pressure system is forecast to impact the Levant, including Jordan, Palestine, Syria, and Lebanon, bringing widespread heavy thunderstorms and rainfall. At the same time, rainfall chances are expected to temporarily decrease across the Arabian Peninsula in preparation for the next approaching depression.
The low-pressure system will be accompanied by unusually cold and wintry weather for this stage of the autumn season, with snowfall expected over the high mountains of Lebanon and Syria.
Heavy thunderstorms are also forecast across Kuwait, parts of Iraq and adjacent areas, northern Saudi Arabia, northeastern Saudi Arabia, and portions of western regions.
Rainfall is then expected to become more intense and widespread across the Arabian Peninsula and Saudi Arabia, extending to Al-Qassim, Riyadh, Kuwait, Hafar Al-Batin, and the Eastern Province, with the rainy conditions lasting for several days. Another low-pressure system is also expected during the second half of next week.
