Wasm Regional Center – Alert for heavy thunderstorm rainfall and flash‑flood risks across the Levant, Saudi Arabia, and Iraq.

WASM – A deep and heavy regional rainfall event is expected, God willing, starting Tuesday and lasting for a very long period across the Middle East, including the Arabian Peninsula, the Levant, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait.

Deepening and Intensification of the Rainfall Event

The rainfall event will intensify and deepen with the development of a deep low‑pressure system over the eastern Mediterranean basin and northern Egypt.

Heavy rainfall will affect the Tabuk region and its coastal areas on Tuesday and Wednesday, extending toward Al‑Madinah and its coasts, Hail, Al‑Jawf, and the Northern Borders.

By Thursday, the rainfall will reach Makkah and parts of its coastal areas, bringing heavy thunderstorm showers and flash‑flood risks.Iraq will also experience heavy rainfall starting Wednesday and lasting for several days.

The rainfall event will affect Jordan, Palestine, Syria, and Lebanon on Tuesday and Wednesday, with flash‑flood risks around the Dead Sea and various parts of Syria and Lebanon.

Heavy rainfall will continue in Syria, Lebanon, and parts of Iraq toward the end of the week, with record rainfall amounts expected in some areas of Syria and Iraq, as rainfall renews across many parts of the Levant.

The deepening of the rainfall event will focus on northwestern and western Saudi Arabia, Iraq, and all regions of the Levant—including Jordan, Syria, Palestine, and Lebanon—with high flash‑flood risks.

A “Very Long‑Lasting” Rainfall Event

Unusually, the rainfall event is expected to persist for a very long period starting at the end of this week.It will initially focus on northern and western Saudi Arabia, Iraq, the Levant, and Kuwait, then expand toward many regions in central and eastern Saudi Arabia, continuing over the Levant, Iraq, and northern and western Saudi Arabia.
