Weather Alert: Atmospheric instability expected at the beginning of next week coinciding with a heat wave

WASM - The Kingdom is expected to be affected by a state of unstable weather conditions that are unseasonable and coinciding with the impact of a heat wave on the Kingdom, which is classified as a "natural" heat wave for the month of August. Temperatures in the capital and many Jordanian cities are expected to reach around 40 degrees Celsius and continue for 3 days from Saturday through Monday. In low-lying areas, Aqaba, and the Jordan Valley, temperatures are expected to reach 44-45 degrees Celsius.

Atmospheric instability begins Saturday evening and peaks Sunday evening..
Cumulus clouds are expected to increase starting Saturday afternoon in the eastern part of the Kingdom, gradually extending to various areas. This will result in light thunderstorms on the whole, but they will be heavy in limited areas. These cumulus clouds will produce downward winds and dust-stirring phenomena in many areas.

Atmospheric instability will peak Sunday evening over various areas of the Kingdom, which is expected to cause thunderstorm precipitation in various areas, especially in the southwestern areas and areas surrounding the Dead Sea.

Caution should be exercised regarding the danger of downward winds stirring up dense dust, as strong dust storms are expected to occur in various areas, causing a sudden loss of horizontal visibility. This will coincide with lightning strikes in various areas, which may result in fires in areas of dry grass and trees.

Beginning of the heat wave breaking on Monday..
The intensity of the heat wave is expected to weaken starting Monday with northwesterly winds becoming active, cloud quantities gradually decreasing, and the weather beginning to stabilize gradually. Atmospheric disturbances are expected to continue in the eastern areas of the Kingdom. The heat wave is expected to retreat further with the dawn of Tuesday and gradually subside mid-next week, starting from the western part of the Kingdom.

WASM issues an orange alert level for the heat wave and the unstable weather conditions coinciding with it, and WASM recommends staying away from direct sunlight and increasing fluid intake.

More details will be issued with expected updates in the coming days regarding the impact of the heat wave and the atmospheric disturbances coinciding with it.
