Weather Alert| Unseasonable Low Pressure System with Heavy Winter Rainfall Expected Starting Next Monday

WASM- The Kingdom is being affected by "unusual" winter conditions compared to this time of year starting from next Monday as a result of a deep low-pressure system accompanied by a cold and highly humid air mass, which results in large quantities of rain in all regions of the Kingdom, including the Aqaba region and desert areas.

In detail, temperatures rise starting from Friday and this rise increases in a "tangible and significant" manner on Saturday and Sunday ahead of the low-pressure system, winds become active and clouds appear at different altitudes and rain showers fall on Sunday evening.

The low-pressure system begins to affect the Kingdom on Monday with a cold front that results in a significant drop in temperature and thunderstorms occurring with heavy rainfall in various regions of the Kingdom, including the Aqaba region and desert areas. Floods are expected to form in wide areas of the country, and details will be issued progressively.

From the middle of next week and for several days, a cold and winter low-pressure system will affect the Kingdom in conjunction with "standard" winter conditions and low temperatures and large quantities of rain in various regions. Temperatures are expected to record levels close to what occurs during the Rabaa season, dropping below 5 degrees Celsius in the mountains and the capital.

The expected weather conditions are considered "unusual" in terms of coldness and high quantities of precipitation in wide areas, which are expected to bring more than "one-fifth of the rainy season" in many regions.

The Maghreb region, North Africa, and southwestern Europe are being affected by a severe drought wave that has caused a significant drop in rainfall rates below 60% in many regions, which has resulted in the succession of strong and heavy rainy conditions on Jordan since the beginning of the current rainy season, and these conditions have been repeated continuously for several seasons as a result of severe climate changes.
